Harmony Summer is a London-based and mixed raced multimedia artist and is currently studying BA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts. Her practice explores themes of femininity, comfort, dreams and reality and desire through a range of mediums, including digital artwork, textiles, cosmetics, glitter, beadwork and embroidery.
Deeply nostalgic, Harmony’s practice is rooted in her memories of girlhood and the objects, rituals and the experiences that have shaped her. A childhood fascination with Zentangle and meditative drawing continues to influence her work, a recurring visual and conceptual foundation within her practice. Through repetition, pattern, decoration and accumulation, she explores how childhood memories can be carried into adulthood and transformed into new forms. Her use of glitter, beads, embroidery and other decorative materials allows her to create work that feels playful and visually excessive, while reflecting on ideas of beauty, femininity, and pleasure.
